Pauline Lin
Bio
Here at Yale, I teach classical Chinese, Sinological Methods, and a Freshman Seminar on Chinese gardens – these are courses that constantly challenge me to explore and uncover new texts, sources, or research tools. Prior to returning to Yale, I was Assistant Professor of East Asian Studies at Bryn Mawr College, where I taught Chinese literature, Chinese visual culture and courses on early Chinese cities. I received my BA in Literature, and my MA and Ph.D. in East Asian Languages and Civilizations from Harvard University, specializing in classical Chinese literature and art. I also studied painting connoisseurship at the Sackler and Freer Galleries in Washington D.C. My own research focuses on Early Medieval Chinese Literature and Art; I am working on a book manuscript on early Chinese gardens.
