Bio

Adam Van Doren was educated at Columbia University and the National Academy of Design. He was a Visiting Artist at the American Academy in Rome, and has taught at the Institute of Classical Architecture in New York. He has exhibited at the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C., among other institutions; and his work is included in the collections of The Art Institute of Chicago, The Yale University Art Gallery, The Beinecke Library, The Addison Gallery of American Art, The Museum of Fine Arts Boston, The Princeton University Art Museum, and The Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art, among others. An eponymous monograph of his work was published by Hudson Hills Press. Van Doren maintains a studio in Manhattan. Van Doren is an Associate Fellow of Davenport College at Yale, and is the author of The Stones of Yale, The House Tells the Story: Homes of the American Presidents, and An Artist in Venice.
