April 12, 2021

The Humanities Program is excited to announce Franke and Shulman Seminars for the 2021-2022 Academic Year.

The Franke Seminars and Lectures are intended to present important topics in the humanities to a wide and general audience, and to tie interdisciplinary undergraduate education to the work of distinguished visiting scholars.  Next year’s seminar, Mass Incarceration in the Soviet Union and United States, will be co-taught by Professor Timothy Snyder and Professor Jason Stanley in the Fall.

The Shulman Seminars and Lectures , on the model of the Franke Seminars and Lectures, focus on the convergence of the arts and sciences. Next year’s seminar, Metaphysics Meets Cognitive Science, will be co-taught by Professor Brian Scholl and Professor Laurie Paul in the Spring.

The Franke and Shulman Seminars are paired with 4 visiting lectures at the Whitney Humanities Center
