Intellectual historian Professor Sophia Rosenfeld sheds light on the history of “common sense”

Professor Sophia Rosenfeld, author of Common Sense: A Political History, has joined Yale’s History department and begun a term on the Humanities Program Executive Committee. Rosenfeld’s Common Sense won the Mark Lynton History Prize in 2012 and the Society for Historians of the Early American Republic Book Prize in 2011. She writes widely about lying, hypocrisy, language and the roots of freedom in early modern Europe and America.
